There are several
ways that you can help support Eric McDavid:
|
Fundraising
Eric is preparing to file an appeal and needs to raise
funds as soon as possible. This is the best way to financially
contribute to Eric's expenses. We are currently able to provide
adequate funds for his commissary but if you'd still like to contribute
in that way, please send us a note letting us know that you'd
like your donation to be put towards his commissary. Please consider
organizing a fundraiser for Eric, or donate directly through paypal
to: sacprisonersupport[at]riseup[dot]net. If you would like to
send a donation by mail, make a check/money order out to: "Sacramento
Defense Fund" and send it to: Sac Prisoner Support, PO Box
163126, Sacramento, CA, 95816. If you are organizing a fundraiser
for Eric, please contact us at sacprisonersupport[at]riseup[dot]net.
Letters
Since his arrest on January 13, 2006, Eric has been held in a "Total
Separation Unit," meaning that he spends almost all of his
time alone in a solitary cell. Aside from support letters and books,
Eric has very little to comfort him or occupy his time. Please take
a moment to send Eric a letter of support! It would mean so much
to him. You can send postcards, blank cards, photocopies of news
articles, stories, black & white drawings, or simple notes of
support. He would also greatly appreciate photos and drawings of
fairies and crows. Please keep in a mind a few important points
when writing Eric:
- All letters must have
a return address on the envelope.
- Please also put a
return address on the letter itself, as prisoners are almost never
given the envelopes.
- Keep in mind that
all mail is read by authorities. Please do not discuss his case,
charges or issues relating to either.
- Pictures are allowed,
but must be 4x6 size or smaller. No Polaroids.
- Sacramento County
Jail does not allow people to send envelopes, blank paper or stamps
to prisoners.
- Avoid using white-out,
stickers, tape, colored ink/paper or glitter.
- Written correspondence
and drawings may be in pencil, standard ink pen, typewritten,
or computer generated. No felt pens, markers, crayon, or colored
pencil, etc.
- All personal artwork
must be in black & white, copied pages can be in color.
- PLAIN cards are allowed
- Most facilities do
not allow torn pages from books, magazine or newspaper clippings.
Photocopies, however, are accepted
- Please remember that,
even if unsolicited, mail can still result in sanctions against
a prisoner.
- Please address all
mail to Eric as follows:
MCDAVID, ERIC X-2972521
7E128
Sacramento County Main Jail
651 "I" Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
Complete
list of mail regulations for the Sacramento County Jail
*Eric has asked that we let people know that there is a substantial
delay between the time someone mails a letter and when he actually
receives it. This also applies to letters he sends out. Please keep
sending letters! Just keep in mind that it takes a while for mail
to reach him and for his responses to be mailed out.
Books
*Thanks to your support, Eric has plenty of books to read.
We will post an update as soon as he's able to receive more.
As Eric has very limited access to reading material, any books you
send him would be gratefully received. Please
see here for a full wish-list. All books must be new,
paperback and come directly from the publisher or an online distributor,
such as www.amazon.com.
Remember that certain subjects, such as "true crime" novels
should not be sent, and will be rejected by the Sacramento County
Jail. For a full list of regulations, please see the above link.
Books should be sent to the exact below address:
MCDAVID, ERIC X-2972521
7E128
Sacramento County Main Jail
651 "I" Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
You can
also photocopy reading material and send it directly to Eric in
an envelope. Up to 10 pages (copied front and back) will be accepted.
Support
Alerts
Please watch for support alerts posted on this website in the section
"updates." Eric and his family
and friends will need continued support to ensure that he receives
proper food and is treated fairly throughout this horrible ordeal.
Support updates will be posted periodically, as we get them from
Eric.
Visits
Eric can receive vists at the Sacramento County Jail. He
has asked that people who would like to visit him please write him
and let him know. He will then write back and let them know how
to get in touch with his family, who will be coordinating his visits.
This will ensure that we can make the most of his visits, and that
he gets to see his family as frequently as he would like.
Thank
you for your support!
